I flip through the pages and spend my time staring at old ads and this really gets the ideas flowing. It's interesting to see how ads have changed over time. Who knew Kleenex once encouraged its customers to use tissue paper for a surgery mask during World War II? Lastly, cutting out graphics in old magazines also works as a way to create mixed media art; work it into, around or under a new painting or ink drawing.
